Sparks’ First Recordings

I realize that Sparks is not a band for everybody, and I also realize that not everybody has good taste. Interpret that as you wish, for i am on the side that Sparks is total genius and decades ahead of their time. The fact they don’t get played for the masses and crammed down the throats of every “classic rock” radio station listener is just another reason this country is totally doomed. I’ve gotten to the point where music snobbery is really annoying and unnecessary buuut anyone that would rather listen to a Boston record than anything Sparks did in the 70’s is either uniformed or a total Gooof with a capital geee. Anyway, these demos are from 1969 and feature some songs later cleaned up for the first two albums along with a few others never to see the light of day again. The sound is still distinctly Sparks but with a much more apparent garage and psych swing to it which is an element that did not roll over to the next decade. Any Sparks fan who hasn’t heard these should be excited, anyone not interested in hearing these can go back to practicing More Than A Feeling for the next big BudLite fueled Karaoke night with the brosefs.
